“I don't just tell the kids how to do it. They can actually experience and practice getting these hands-on skills and figuring out if this is something they want to do for a career”

Approximately 50 students in grades K-12 participated in Missoula Children’s Theatre this year. This program allows these students to participate in something that would not be available to them otherwise. After the MCT experience, many of these students look forward to this event this year and we do see a continual participation. This is not only beneficial due to the further engagement and involvement of students, but more benefits exist such as confidence, taking risks, and challenging social norms. This is an amazing program that does so much for our students.

The students were very excited to have a new type of seat to choose from, so it was something for them to be excited about each day. These seats also were a wonderful addition for my students that need movement through the day. There are students that need to be able to bend back in their chairs to help keep them focused. These allow that movement in a safer manner.

I want to first thank you so much for the grant. I used the money to help pay for clinicians specializing in African dance and drumming to spend 3 days teaching students in grades 2, 3, and 4. African dance and drum techniques as well as information about African culture and the part that music and dance play in it. The students thouroughly enjoyed the experience and the 3rd and 4th graders presented the song and dance that they learned at the Elementary Spring Concert for the community’s enjoyment. Again, thank you for your kind donation. It greatly benefited the students by exposing them to another culture through music and dance.
